The coordinating chairman for the 14 PAP town councils, Mr Teo Ho Pin, said on Monday that the contract between the town councils and PAP-owned Action Information Management (Aim) had followed existing financial regulations. SMU Assistant Professor of Law Eugene Tan said that it was a ‘good thing’ for PAP to make known to the public its ownership of this company as it would help to raise accountability and transparency. He added that as the software was proprietary-owned, Aim could decide to terminate the contract with Aljunied-Hougang Town Council. It was thus not practical for the Workers’ Party to assume that it could inherit the software.
