Punggol East may see five-corner fight should SDA run for by-election

With the Singapore Democratic Alliance expressing interest to run for the Punggol East by-election, the constituency may see an intense five-corner fight. SMU Assistant Professor of Law Eugene Tan said that more opposition parties or independents might express an interest in running for the by-election, but the final number might be few. He added that political parties would have learnt from the previous election in Punggol East, and they would not want to be seen as a distraction that could affect the opposition’s vote count.
