Commenting on the recent police report filed against Mr Adrian Chng, from Raffles Institution, for using expletives in a WhatsApp group chat, SMU Assistant Professor of Corporate Communications (Education) and social-media expert Michael Netzley said that there is “virtually no distinction between public and private on social networks”, and “anything can be captured and redistributed” there. However, Assistant Prof Netzley was not sure if a police report was warranted in this case.
