In the final segment of his National Day Rally speech, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong reminisced about old places and how they rekindled fond memories of the past. He highlighted that while some old and well-known buildings must make way for progress, others could have been conserved. He pointed out the old National Library building along Stamford Road and said that if it was still there today, it would be a hive of activity with SMU just across the road.
