David King Thorairajan, 31 years of age, is one of SMU's graduates this year and the second ex-offender to have graduated from the university. Despite spending a total of eight years behind bars, he passed his N-, O- and A-Levels while serving his jail terms and gained admission to SMU. Today, not only has he graduated with a degree, he has also set up a company with a partner to provide counseling courses to impart life skills and learning techniques to students. David majored in psychology and organisational behaviour & human resource while at SMU and took only 3.5 years to complete the four-year programme.
