Singapore is a choice destination for Chinese students as they can quickly adapt to the environment and also study at international institutions of higher education where English is the medium used for teaching. There are four public funded universities in Singapore and three of them – SMU, NUS and NTU are ranked among the world's top universities and accept foreign students as well. According to an education consultant, the amount of money (school fees and living expenses) estimated to be paid by China students per year is about 120 thousand renminbi. The cost is halved if they are accepted into the local universities as the Singapore government offers reimbursements of up to 80% of the school fees. However, students are required to sign a contract to stay and work for three years with the Singapore government.
