Two students set up “Project Hello Stranger” to encourage strangers to greet one another

Project Hello Stranger was started by two SMU graduates, Tham Yining, 23, and Valerie Ong, 22, who had both been very active in community service work while at SMU. It was not until the start of this year that they had the idea of setting up the voluntary organisation. The Project Hello Stranger movement banks on guerrilla street campaigns and social media to bring smiles to people's faces. The volunteers will be at Orchard Road this Saturday to give out yellow balloons in order to revive the kampong spirit.
