He commented that Singapore's bid to develop an innovative economy has started off relatively well with its research and development platform luring top talent to its shores. However, the long-term sustainability of any innovative economy cannot rely on importing foreign principal investigators. Nor can an entire innovation-driven economy be built on the shoulders of a few genius-level innovators.
