NUS had proposed to the Ministry of Education that its tuition fees be revised for the incoming cohort of students. NUS provost told reporters yesterday evening that the university is waiting for approval from the Ministry. When contacted, SMU and NTU said they will announce their tuition fee revisions, if any, in due course. NUS will pump in $4.5 million to enhance its bursary schemes and bring the overall financial aid this year to $9.5 million, up from $5 million last year. A big chunk of the additional funds will go towards increasing the bursaries for about 1,100 of the university's neediest students who come from households with a monthly per capita income of about $500.
