SMU is one of the four publicly funded institutions in which 12,000 Singaporeans had enrolled to pursue degrees last year. Minister of State for Education Lawrence Wong said that though the number enrolling will increase to about 14,000 by 2015, the Government will ensure degrees remain prized by employers. Mr Wong was speaking to about 400 junior college and polytechnic students, university graduates and parents at Ngee Ann Polytechnic yesterday.
