Following NUS and SMU, NTU has also announced that it will also run a University Scholars Programme (USP) to attract high calibre students and nurture them to be the country's future leaders. NTU's programme will allow students to study a diverse range of programmes, have the opportunity to meet Nobel Prize-winning scientists, be involved in multi- disciplinary research, and be taught by the University's top professors. SMU's USP is unique in that besides awarding scholarships, students also have the opportunity to achieve a Bachelor's and Master's degree in five years. The programme takes in up to 25 students annually, however, due to stringent selection criteria, it has only taken in about 10 students each year, on average.
