Lawrence Wong: Important for universities to develop soft skills, in addition to imparting knowledge to students

Minister of State for Education and Defence Lawrence Wong commented that to prepare graduates adequately for the working environment, it would be important for the universities to develop their soft skills, such as leadership, communication, teamwork; on top of imparting knowledge.  Apart from the two comprehensive universities, NUS and NTU, there are specialised universities like SMU and the soon-to-be-operational SUTD, plus the collaborations between the Singapore Institute of Technology with private institutions.  All these elements will form a more diversified landscape for the tertiary education sector of Singapore.
