Tan Kin Lian: President should speak up publicly

Mr Tan Kin Lian feels that the president could be ?an additional channel? for people to ?bring legitimate issues to the attention of the Government.? He was responding to an article in last week's Straits Times by SMU law don Wan Wai Yee, where she said the president's role should not be politicised and that the president should refrain from publicly taking sides on political issues as this would diminish the institution.
