Setbacks didn't stand in Jovin's way

A recipeint of last year's Stars of Shine Awards is David Thorairajan Manickam, 30, a former offender, who had served a 6½-year sentence for gang-related activities, and subsequently did a double-degree programme at SMU, majoring in psychology and organisational behaviour and human resource. He contributed the money from his award towards initiatives to help at-risk youth, while continuing to share his experiences with young people.
