Under the proposed changes, the time before trainees appear in court and chambers will be whittled down to three months. They will also be allowed to appear in court for all types of hearings, including representing clients in open court just three months into their training. Mr Joshua Lim, a final year law undergraduate at the Singapore Management University welcomes the proposed changes, saying: ?The proposed changes will allow us to experience court hearings earlier and go to open court instead of just chambers, which will definitely give us greater exposure.?
