The Law Society aims to help small law firms upgrade so they have a better chance of surviving the stiffer competition from bigger firms and foreign law practices. Among its plans, the society is looking at getting the universities here to help small law firms expand their access to more legal precedents and updated legal cases. The society plans to work out a scheme enabling smaller firms to tap the resources of the two universities ? NUS and SMU ? for advice and material, and also the expertise of senior members of the Bar.
