Assistant Professor Eugene Tan commented that MM Lee Kuan Yew adopted a more parental approach in governing the country whereas SM Goh Chok Tong and current PM Lee Hsien Loong are more consultative. ?As times have changed and issues become more complex, PM Lee has to take a more consultative style in getting people's buy-in for government policies. However, all three generation of leaders have maintained a certain level of paternalism as this is the way Singaporeans want the government to lead the country,? he said.
