The recent move to introduce new rulings to regulate short selling on the Singapore Exchange has been well received by market players. Analysts added that if short-selling becomes more popular among retail investors, the SGX may look to enhance its rulings selectively. Visiting Associate Professor (Practice) Bernard Lee at the Sim Kee Boon Institute for Financial Economics at SMU, said: ?Let's be fair. I think it should not be the case that every single retail product should run like a hedge fund essentially allowing you to go long and short anytime you want.?
